Sringeri Periyava's Jayanthi!

Today October 26th, 2016 is the Jayanti of Sringeri Shankaracharya Jagadguru Sri Sri Chandrashekhara Bharati Mahaswamiji. We are blessed to hear Sri Chandrashekhara Bharati Navaratnamalika, a stuti on Jagadguru Sri Sri Chandrashekhara Bharati Mahaswamiji composed by Jagadguru Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji.
श्री चंद्रशेखरभारती नवरत्नमाला स्तोत्रम् ॥
This is a composition by Jagadguru Sri Bharati Teertha Mahaswamiji on the 34th Jagadguru, HH Chandrasekhara Bharati Mahaswami that adorned Dakshinamnaya Sringeri Sharada Peetham.

The nine Slokas comprising this are examples of HH Bharati Teertha Mahaswamiji's immaculate poetic genius and are full of deep meaning invoking instant adoration towards Sri Chandrasekhara Bharati Mahaswami. This composition is hence aptly named as "navaratnamaala".

It is exactly 50 years today since Maitreem Bhajatha, the immortal poem composed by Kanchi Mahaswamigal, was rendered at the United Nations in New York on October 23rd, 1966 on the occasion of the UN day, by Bharat Ratna Smt. M.S. Subbalakshmi!

On the previous day of the concert, she had a very bad throat and could hardly breathe. She did not even tell it her husband Sri Sadashivam or even to her daugter Smt Radha but started praying to Kanchi Mahaperiyava. Till the time she entered the concert hall and even after sitting in the dais her throat was very bad. After reaching the dais with sincere heart she invoked Periyava and cried “OM”, Immediately she was able to feel the difference and miraculously regained her voice, which sounded sweeter than ever!

She finally sang “Maitreem Bhajatha” composition to a standing ovation.

The tune for the song was set by Shri Vasant Desai and he was paid Rs. 501 by Shri T. Sadasivam, MSS' husband, in 1966!

MSS is seen doing Pada Pooja to Mahaswamigal. And the other one is a picture singing at the UN on the same day, October 23rd in 1966!

Shankara.

Shri Arunachalam holding an Umbrella for Pudhu Periyava!

These pictures are shared by Gayathri Sivaguru. Her Father in law known as Shri Pathangi Arunachalam is very attached to our Kanchi Matam. He used to to kaingaryam in the Matam. Here is the fortunate and blessed Shri Arunachalam, standing with folded hands on the rightmost in the picture with Kanchi Mahaperiyava and holding the Umbrella to Pudhu Periyava in the second picture! The last one is his recent picture. All of us may have seen the first two pictures but now we know the person in those. Shri Arunchalam is unable to recall the location of the pictures with the Periyavas, but how fortunate he is to be with Them so close! Please click the below link and listen to an interesting incident about Mahaperiyava. Shri Arunachalam's name is mentioned towards the end, along with the other Blessed people who did Kainkaryam to Mahaswamigal. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BziSWahcH3DZUXNBT01IbktXNEk/view?usp=sharing Shankara.
