Thanks a bunch to Shri Hariharan for this precious 19:32 long video of Kanchi Mahaperiyava.
Shri Subramanian Kalyanaraman son of famous neurosurgeon Dr S Kalyanaraman says:
"HH blessings. Thanks to the dear daughter Vindhya Peddada who chanced upon this video at midnight and many more thanks to Hari Haran for preserving and posting this video on facebook, I see myself at 16 minute 38 seconds and my father Dr Kalyanaraman. My father refers to a severe jaundice he recovered from and is seen with dark frame glasses. I am introduced as Mani, son of Dr Kalyanaraman seen nearer the camera with gold rim glasses and Thamarai mani malai around my neck that is still safe with me today after nearly 30 years.
Though I do not remember this particular event, I am blessed to receive a fruit from HH himself as He retires from the dharshan platform. In the background a message comes from 'pal doctor' (dentist) as my late grandfather was referred to, in his own voice, saying he would come back soon to take permanent residence at Periva's feet at Sri Matam.
Thank you once again. Am overwhelmed."
Famous dancer Smt Padma Subrahmanyan is also seen in the video, she is seen in the last picture.
A humble effort in the propagation of the Vedas has developed into a mission for this scholar. Sri Gururama Ghanapadigal, who has five young disciples, is engaged in the task of raising a building for Sri Mantra Peeteswari Veda Gurukulam, on the banks of the Cauvery in Kumbakonam. “I always wanted to teach and was doing that after completing my studies,” says the 37-year old pandit, who has been a Veda Adhyapaka for the past 15 years. Hailing from Unjalur village near Karur, Sri Ghanapadigal, son of a school teacher, had initial training in Chennai and went to Palakkadu for higher studies. “It was my guru, who motivated me to adopt disciples for tutelage. He said that the children should grow up in the right atmosphere without distractions. That’s the only way in which they will imbibe the lifestyle that a practitioner should follow,” explains Sri Gururam, Salakshana Ghanapadigal. A formidable task for a man in Chennai with a mother, young wife and child to support. But he decided to make the move. To go away from Madras, which offered lucrative scope for pandits, well versed in both Veda and Sastra. He chose a spot near the Cauvery and hired a house to which he shifted. For the past 18 months, the five students have integrated into the family of the guru, who leads by example. Two of them are already learning Ghanam lessons. “It is a sacrifice that parents make for a cause. Having trained in a gurukulam, I know the feelings on both sides and therefore was aware of the responsibility it places on the guru and his family,” says the ghanapadigal, who has been blessed by the Acharyas of both Kanchi and Sringeri. “My wife showers maternal affection on them and my daughter does not wish to enjoy any privileges that her brothers do not,” he adds. The fulfilment has prompted Sri Gururama Ghanapadigal to find a bigger place to continue his mission. Land close to his present residence was acquired and construction is on. Thanks to bank loan and philanthropic friends, the project has taken off but funds are needed to complete the construction. Contributions for Sri Mantra Peeteswari Trust may be sent to:

For an exhaustive list of Veda Patashalas and Goshalas please check the below link:
'Dharmo Vishwasya Jagatah Pratishtha.…’ and many more lines from Shastras in synchronised and tender voices echo as we pass by the treacherous and rutted roads of Safilguda, Hyderabad. The positive vibes intuitively make you manoeuvre your vehicle into those cluttered alleys. Then you automatically spot a house that has lads of different age groups, wearing the time-honoured dhotis, sporting the scared vibuthi and marginally shaved head with a tied bun, intoning vedas in chorus. This out-of-the-box Gurukul is a marked departure from the techno schools, digi schools and international schools that have mushroomed in the city. As you enter the premises, the chants and hymns from the Vedas rent the air. There is more than what meets the eye at the Veda patashala here. Perhaps the reason why R Venkatrama Ghanapadigal, the founder will receive the Certificate of Honour from none other than President Pranab Mukherjee himself in March 2017 As the kids dispersed for their Gayatri Japam, Venkatrama Ghanapadigal briefs more about the Gurukul that is one of its kind.
“One Veda pundit or a member from a Veda Bhavan or one who has studied or mastered the vedas or shastras or one who has taught or advocated or supported or promoted Vedas is selected for this certificate of honour.” he informs in the most composed way, for his vision is to keep the legacy going than awards. He first started this Gurukul in 1984 at his residence with just three students, today he has more than 125 students and many passed out of the Veda school over the years. “When the number of students increased, my house was not sufficient and I purchased a land and then constructed a building for housing more students. I named the building Veda Bhavan. More than 200 students have learnt Vedas and Shastras here and are employed at various places in Telangana, Rajmundry, Vijayawada, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. All this happened due to the blessings of Paramacharya of Kanchi", he says humbly. “There are many young students waiting to come to this place to learn and study Vedas,” he shares raising our hopes to see more scope in the field of our age old Vedas. He adds, "In addition to Vedas, English, Math and computer skills are also taught for students to be on par with the other regular schools".

When the powers of Nature are unfavourable to us, is there a way to change their behaviour and make them favourable to us? Is there also a means by which our mind could be brought under control when it goes haywire?
If everything is caused by vibration, by sound, there must be a way of making the forces of nature favourable to us and of purifying our mind and bringing it under control through this very sound.
The Vedas constitute such Sound.

Thanks to Sage of Kanchi Page in Facebook for these precious words of Kanchi Mahaperiyava.
This goes to show that bad things can be changed, by constantly reciting sacred words like Rama, Rama or Shiva Shiva or chanting prayers, Vedas etc with lot of Devotion and Faith and doing thus, can indeed overturn the bad effect of the vibrations that emanate from unfavourable things of Nature.
