Enge Cho! (Where has Cho Gone!)

Accompanied by Indian Express Journalist friends of his, Shri S Gurumurthy, Shri Arun Shourie, Shri Goenka etc, Shri Cho Ramaswamy was on the way to Kanchi to have Darshan of Mahaperiyava. "Why did Swamigal do it this way?", Cho was asking himself this question and was confused. He is referring to some incident, but does not state which incident it was. He asked Shri Gurumurthy this and he replied, "It will be impossible for us mere mortals to comprehend why Swamigal did it that way!".

They were in Tambaram when they were discussing it, on the way to Kanchi.

They reached the Matam in Kanchi. There were more than 200 devotees there having Swamigal's Darshan.

Swamigal's eyes fell on Cho and He remarked:

"Mmm... so you want to know why I did it that way. Or else your Brain will not be quiet. Is it not?!"

:)))

Cho was stunned! How did Swamigal know what was worrying him. He had not told Swamigal about this, after all! He was shocked when Swamigal spoke his mind, that he felt like running away.

Swamigal then gave a big explanation of His actions. Not just for Cho, but for everyone present there at the Matam.

"How did Swamigal know what was in his mind?", asks the stunned Cho in the below 2 minute video starting from time 3.22.  Please click the link below.

Humbly he says, "Do not conclude that I am Swamigal's close devotee. I am a Nothing!". He also says, "Lot of such miracles happen in everyone's daily Lives too. We must attune ourselves to realize it."

World’s sole Sanskrit daily struggles to stay afloat!

‘Sudharma’ has been published for 47 years and even has an e-paper, but its fortunes are declining

India’s ‘sole surviving Sanskrit daily,’ Sudharma, with its mix of political, civic, sports and culture coverage is waging a struggle to stay afloat as costs rise and advertisement revenue shrinks.

Reaching 3,000 print subscribers by post, the two-pager with a 47-year publishing history also has a ten-year old electronic paper version that reaches 1.5 lakh readers internationally, but fetches no revenues.

K.V. Sampath Kumar, the Editor seen in the above picture, who hails from Mysuru where the newspaper is based, describes the publication effort as an “everyday battle for survival.”

“I don’t have the heart to close it down, and with generous hands I hope to continue the world’s only Sanskrit newspaper and see it roll off my offset machine daily,” says Mr. Kumar.

Government subsidy and advertisement earnings are insufficient and the two dozen Sanskrit Universities and Academies do not provide much support. Central and State advertisements, too, are few. “Even a no-profit, no-loss model is shaky,” the Editor says.

The annual Rs. 18 lakh budget needs a stable revenue stream. Former Bihar Governor Rama Jois helped make an appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh for grants. Sudharma’s core readers are in Sanskrit Vidyapeeths, academies, Kendriya Vidyalayas and public libraries in States ranging from Jammu and Kashmir to Kerala.

“I am going to print Sanskrit kritis of Indian composers with meanings in Sudharma. Perhaps that will get musicians to subscribe,” says Mr. Kumar, 59, who performs an all-in-one role : from reporter to Editor and Publisher.

Founding Editor Pandit K.N. Varadaraja Iyengar (seen in the picture) wanted to “resurrect a language considered to be inactive in public life.”

"We must never, ever disobey His teachings!" --- Yogi Ramsuratkumar on Kanchi Mahaswamigal!

We must go out of our way to preserve the Vedas. Our Paramacharya is doing everything He can to sustain Vedas, those who learn the Vedas and those who teach them. His principles and opinions are replete with wisdom and always noble.

Sri Paramacharya desires nothing but the welfare for humanity. And He cares so much about the future generation's well being. We must never, ever disobey His teachings!

Spirtitual beacons like Sri Paramacharya show Light to our society. But this Beggar (refers to himself) is not like that! He (Yogiar) is like a pig whose only purpose in this world to clean the dirt in our society!

Durga Temple ‘annexes’ satram of Sringeri Peetham, sparks row!

HH Bharati Tirtha Swami of Sringeri Sharada Peetham may lead a protest against the Endowments Department for allowing Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam to take over the maintenance of Sringeri Peetham’s  Vadlamannativari Satram Choultry, sources close to New Indian Express revealed.

Arjun Street in Vijayawada, where the Satram stands, remained tense on Tuesday with members of the Sringeri Peetham agitating over its “annexation”.

Members of Sringeri Peetham flayed the temple officials’ decision and claimed it was taken without consulting them. They said that the temple which was supposed to pay a rent of Rs 12,000 per day for using the satram for Annadanam had in fact decided to take it over when the satram custodian was in Sringeri on November 19.

The temple officials, however, said the Vadlamannativari Satram was being used for commercial purposes which was in conflict with the desire of the donor who handed over the satram to Sringeri Peetham five decades ago. According to Vadlamannativari Satram custodian Nimmagadda Subramanyam, the Devasthanam had requested the members of Sringeri Peetham to allocate the satram for Annadanam six months ago. At that time, it agreed to pay Rs 12,000 per day towards rent to the satram. The devasthanam paid a rent of Rs 21.6 lakh until October 15 and then stopped.

“When we asked for the payment for the unpaid period, the temple officials remained silent and suddenly the endowments department has given Durga Temple permission to take over the satram maintenance,”, Shri Subramanyam said.

Defending the move to lease the satram for commercial purposes like weddings and other functions, the custodian maintained that he had the original documents which mention that the satram should be operated through the amount collected from travellers and weddings.
