Metal collection campaign for the massive statue of Adiguru Shankaracharya will begin from August 26 on Rishi Panchami. Collection yatras will begin from Adiguru Smriti Sthals of Madhya Pradesh. All the yatras will culminate at Omkareshwar. This unanimous decision was taken on Thursday at a Vimarsh Sabha of seers in the presence of Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The ‘Vimarsh Sabha’ was organised at the Tribal Museum’s community hall. Swami Prabodhanand Saraswati, Swami Vishnudutt Bourasi, Swami Raghavendradutt Maharaj of Chinmayanand Mission, Public Works Minister Rampal Singh and Minister of State for Culture Surendra Patwa were also present on the occasion.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that State Government is making efforts to reach out Adiguru Shankaracharya darshan to the masses and to inspire people to follow his path by setting up his huge statue. Adiguru Shankaracharya has done the work of uniting India culturally. Adiguru connected the country from all four directions in such a manner that the country cannot break up or scatter. He said that the country is indebted to Adiguru for its form today. He said that Adiguru Shankarachaya’s darshan will give a feeling of peace to the humanity soaked in the fire of materialism. Adiguru gave human beings a feeling of perfection. If everyone accepts that there is the same chetna in all, all enmity, hatred will end. All conflict and upheavals will end. The whole world will become one family.
The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the Acharya Sabha for acceptance of the responsibility of the campaign by the seers. He said that the campaign will be such an amazing event in the hands of the seers community that it will fill the entire state with creativity and spirituality. He informed the seers about the programme in which 6 crore saplings will be planted on coming July 2 and invited them in it.
He told them that development, construction works and environment protection is government’s responsibility. State Government is working with this feeling. Rivers in the state will not be exploited for sand anymore. After adequate discussion, arrangement for scientific mining will be made.
The mining model will be changed after bidding. Mining will be done by women and youth self-help groups through human labour. Government will control sale of sand. The profit from sand trade which untill now was going to a few coffers will now reach the poor man’s hut. He said that state is leading in the implementation of Prime Minister’s programmes. First two clean cities of the country are from the state. Out of total 100 clean cities of the country, 22 are from Madhya Pradesh. The state is moving ahead of Punjab, Haryana in filling up food storages in the country.
Good work is being done in rural development. Mahamandeleshwar Jagadguru Swami Avdheshanand Giri said that Adiguru has spoken about Atma not Dehdharma. It is the soil of Madhya Pradesh that has turned boy Shankar into Adiguru Shankaracharya. He said that Omkareshwar should become the centre of Vedic education. Workshops and Lecture series should be organized here. Arrangements to teach Mathanamayaha and Vyavasthayen should be made. He said that Neer se hi Narayan hai (Where there is Water, there is God). No campaign or venture like Narmada Seva Yatra has been initiated for the last 100 years for river conservation. He said that other states should also follow the initiative of the state government. The state’s spiritual vibes, energy and vigour should be for the welfare of the whole country.
Acharya Sabha co-ordinator Swami Parmanand Saraswati said that Adi Guru has done the work of bringing religious culture and spiritualism to the fore. In accordance with this Omkareshwar should be accorded a new identity. It should become a centre of research based knowledge which can remove the myths of Hinduism. Save religion. Acharya Sabha is eveready to develop organized Hindu Chetna. Swami Hariharanand said that he is overwhelmed with the efforts of the state government to revive Indian culture. Narmada Seva Yatra is an exemplary effort of the fulfillment of satya-kartavya. Swami Akhileshwaranand stressed on the need to co-ordinate the organisational structure at the district, division and state level for implementation of the campaign. He said that a guidance team be formed at the state level. Principal Secretary Culture Manoj Shrivastava informed about the project.

"It is because of the extraordinary preaching of Adi Shankaracharya that India has cultural unity and integrity. A lesson on His life and preaching will be included in school syllabus in Madhya Pradesh," Chouhan announced at a function organized to mark the entry of 'Namami Devi Narmade Sewa Yatra' in Omkareshwar town.
In order to make people aware of Adi Shankaracharya's teachings, the State government will set up an institute in Omkareshwar, he said. A light and sound show will soon start on the banks of Narmada river to spread information about the importance of Shankaracharya's preaching, the river Narmada and Omkareshwar, the CM added.

"It is like offering water produced by Chandrakanta stone to the moon itself!"
The Sanskrit name for moonstone is Chandrakanta mani (Chandra is one of the names for the moon, Kanta means light, and Mani means jewel).
In India, moonstone has long been regarded as sacred. It’s said that moonstone grows under the influence of the moon, and as it forms, it absorbs the moon’s magical powers. Indian tradition holds that this moonlight gem helps us befriend the moon, and that the stone itself symbolizes the Third Eye, or enlightenment. In Ayurvedic medicine, moonstone is used to influence the body’s magnetic field, a clear connection to the moon’s gravitational influence on the Earth.
Kanchi Swamigal says the moonstone absorbs the cool rays of moon and produces water in the form of cool moisture. In the last verse of Soundarya Lahari Adi Shankara tells Ambal thus in utmost humility:
"Amma, is it something noteworthy and something to be proud of, that I composed the 100 verses on you? Would have this been possible without your mercy on me? Will not the world make fun of me if I bragged that it was 'me' who had composed the 100 verses? My saying thus will be akin to showing camphor light to the sun. Or offering water that was produced by the Chandrakanta stone to the moon. Or doing Abhishekam uttering mantras to the ocean with the handful of water from the ocean itself. For the camphor gets its life from the sun, the Chandrakanta stone its powers from the moon and the water belongs to the ocean itself! My act is as laughable a matter as these three acts are!"
Thus is the bhashyam, interpretation of the last verse by Kanchi Periyava in Deivathin Kural about the humility of His revered Guru.
Tittai is one of the holy places, extolled by the Saivite saint-singer, Tirugnanasambandhar, who hails the sanctity of the place as more superior to even the glory of the Lord Himself. The Lingamurti in the sanctum sanctorum receives an eternal ablution of dripping water from the Moolasthana Vimana, which has a unique ceiling embedded with a Chandrakanta stone in the centre.

Moonstones are considered sacred stones in India. They are always displayed on a yellow cloth, which is a sacred color. According to Vedic legend, a battle was fought between Lord Vishnu and Bali, the demon god. Vishnu destroyed Bali by breaking his body into several pieces, which fell to the earth as different jewels. It is said that the 'Chandrakanta' or moonstone was formed from the gleam of Bali's eyes. It was believed that the finest blue moonstones were washed ashore by the tides every 21 years, when the sun and moon were in an astrologically harmonious aspect to each other.
As the moon is considered to represent feminine energy and rules the tides, so the moonstone came to be seen to affect the "female" areas of life and was associated with water. It became known as the traveler's stone because it was said to protect those traveling by night or by sea. Moonstones were used for protection during pregnancy and at birth, while in the Middle East, women would sew moonstones into their clothing when they wished for a child. Likewise, amulets of moonstones were hung from trees to ensure an abundant crop.
The moonstone is associated with the astrological sign of Cancer and is an alternate birthstone for June. Some of the metaphysical properties that have been ascribed to the moonstone include its supposed ability to help stabilize the emotions and bring a sense of calm to the wearer of the stone. It is said to enhance intuition and spiritual development. An elixir was traditionally made of crushed moonstone to help cure insomnia, and the stone was also used to treat sleepwalking.

Soundarya Lahari in the divine voice of HH Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal!
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BziSWahcH3DZSkpXMU43Q3Jka1k/edit?usp=sharing (please click this link to download the mp3 onto your device)
In Deivathin Kural Kanchi Swamigal has expounded the meanings of the verses by plumbing the deepest of depths, just an astonishing bhashyam it is. And He goes on to say, "If anyone can give a different interpretation (different to what I have said) to the verses, then nothing can make Me more happpier!". Goes to reveal the towering height of humility in Him, His unsurpassable love for Ambal and His supreme bhakthi and respect for His Guru Adi Shankara.
This is quite a powerful sthothram, with each of the 100 verses laden with a specific benefical effect. So let us take a resolve to memorize it and chant on Fridays.
In time for a blessed Navarathri to you all.
